Brake Controller Problems

I tow a camper and my camper brakes do not work. My truck is a 2006 Chevy 2500 HD. You can apply the brakes manually by moving the lever on the controller. I have checked the wire that leads to the controller and where it plugs in under the dash. Is there a certain fuse that would cause this? I know there is a 30A trailer fuse under the hood that I replaced but that hasn't helped. Any ideas?

Sounds like either the trigger wire from the brake pedal is not hooked up, or the controller is not adjusted properly. What model is it?

The controller is a Tekonsha Prodigy.

This is the Prodigy installation sheet. It tells you how to set up the controller. It says to use the generic wiring diagram, which I didn't find.

I have a 2003 K2500 Suburban that had the same issue last week. I thought it was the controller (Tekonsha Prodigy) but it turned out to be the vehicle itself. The red wire in the controller harness is the brake signal wire telling the controller that the vehicle's brakes are applied. I checked that wire's position in the body relay block where the harness plugs in and found it was shorted to ground. For a temporary fix I simply removed the red wire from the controller harness and connected it directly to the brake switch. I removed the plug from the brake switch and three contacts in the switch pulled out with the plug. I had to remove the switch from the brake pedal in order to put it all back together. It could only be assembled on way, so I know it was correct, but for some reason the switch would not work when reinstalled on the brake pedal. It worked while holding it in my hand and pushing the plunger with a screwdriver, but not when it was on the pedal. I got a new switch at the dealer ($24) and it all works just fine now.
