True Dual Exhaust

Recommended Posts

I have a 1993 Silverado Ext. cab 4x4 with a 350 when i bought it, it had true dual exhaust no cats and no mufflers I believe the dia. of the pipe is 2.25. I was wondering if this is the proper size pipe for correct back pressure so it doesn't hurt the engine. Plus its way to loud will probably put mufflers on in the future.

Not enough back pressure is not going to hurt your engine!!!

Your motor does not need back pressure. It needs good scavaging. If it is 2 1/4 pipe you should be fine.

Here is what I would do. I would buy two Magnaflow mufflers (length will be based on how loud you want it...shorter louder, longer quieter). I would also add an H pipe. This will help with scavanging and gives a nice tone to the exhaust.

This can be done by you if you can weld or an exhaust shop. Please, please don't let an exhaust shop tell you an H or X pipe is not needed. That is where I would tell them "good day" and leave to find another shop.

No dual exhaust system should EVER be without a cross over pipe of some sort.

Does the H/X pipe help balance things out??
