Gozer Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Can skid plates be added to 2009 2500HD crew cab? I have 4x4 but no skid plates, and I'd like to add the skid plates if possible. Thanks!
Stevens03 Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Yes, and the holes should be there for it too
Gozer Posted September 16, 2009 Author Posted September 16, 2009 Does anybody know what the GM part numbers are? Thanks!
BlackSilver Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 I'm sure you can add them, but I wouldn't bother. They came on my truck, they don't protect much of anything (one of them is plastic!), and they get in the way changing oil, etc. Save your money for a few tanks of fuel.
Fobroader Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Cheaper and better to build your own, a little 1/4" plate and a little creativity and youll do a lot better than the factory tinfoil crap.
msova2 Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I always pulled them off my '08 HD to change the oil... 4 bolts... took 2 minutes and less mess... just bought an 09 2500HD CC LTZ and it didn't have them. Out of curiosity, I looked at the frame and the hole cut outs are on the cross members, but there were no threads for the bolts. I was surprised, but I guess I didn't need them that bad or I would have bought a truck with 'em.
alaska511 Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 My '09 has them, yes they can be added with no problem.
jhplak325 Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 I just added them to my 09 2500HD CC LTZ 4x4. The holes are threaded, the threads are filled in with the coating on the frame from factory. You can use a tap to clean the threads up or just take your time with the bolts to clean the threads up.
glamis44 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 They should bolt right up. I am sure you can get some nice aftermarket ones for a decent price.
