Jimmy Tailgate Glass Stuck Closed

I have a bad tailgate actuator on my 2000 GMC Jimmy. The thing is that there is no keyed entry. Its all electronic via pushbutton or keyless entry. So I need to know what is the best way to remove the rear tailgate panel? Is it screwed in? cliped in?

There is very little room to work with basically none around the edges of the panel cause it fits so flush. And I would like not to damage the panel if possible.

Thanks in advance!

I am having the exact same issue, and have been very unsuccessful in finding anyone that has an idea how to fix this, wondering if anybody has come up with anything since this guy asked in 2006........

what i know is that the tailgate is screwed and likely clipped in as well, what wasn't stated above is that when the button is pressed i can hear the "actuator" or some part of the mechanism that opens the glass firing but the glass does not actually pop open. i have tried bending the panel open to manually pop the latch but i cannot bend it open far enough.......

any ideas?

thank you kindly
