Turbo 350 Or Overdrive

Hey everyone. Got a quick question. I have a 1988 GMC with the over drive transmission and it finally quit working for me ( no gears at all) and I was thinking about rebuilding a turbo 350 for it instead with a shift kit. I don't really drive highway with the truck either. Let me know what transmission I should rebuild. Thanks for all the help.

Rebuild the 700R4, you will be happy you did. If you decide to go the TH350 route, you will need a different driveshaft.

Alright ill look into it. My buddy could prob do it for cheaper at his shop instead of paying for shop prices which would be alot. I should put a shift kit into it?

Def stay with the 700R4. Shift kit is fine, but remember the other one lasted 20 years.....

Yea ill stick with the 700. shift kit is alright to put in?

Put a shift kit, go with an upgraded clutch pack (I think it was a 7-plate pack), an upgraded sun shell, put in a corvette shift servo and upgrade to a welded vane torque converter. Just did my trans after the motor was too much for the tired tranny. That should last you another 20 years.
