Question About Installing Cab Lights

I am wanting to install some cab lights on my 2003 HD which lights are the best? I have seen the Pacer, Recon, and LMC lights. The Recon lights are LED and the rest are regular lights. Which ones are better? Thanks for any help

i personally like the Recon lights the best, i would go with them

I like the recon lights too. I didn't know how they would look with the led lights. I haven't seen a truck with them on it.

The recon are better quality, but some don't like the multiple LED's in the center lamp. The ones in the link below are very close to factory in appearence, and have the regular bulbs in them also, like the factory ones. My neighbor has the Recon ones and you can tell they are not factory, not sure if I like them or not. I will be installing some on mine this month sometime, but unsure which brand I'm gonna choose.

Pacer makes LED cab lights as well. As for the best lights, I would go with the GM ones if you don't mind paying the extra money. One plus to the GM cab lights is that they are plug and play with the correct harness.

You mentioned something about the truck has a harness on the PS. Is it the plug for if you had the lights stock or is it just a spot on the fuse panel for them? I am wanting to make a harness for them so I can simply plug and play when it comes time to install them. Like installing a car stereo, if you wire up the harness outside of the truck it is alot easier and faster. I am thinking about getting the Recon Smoked lights for my truck since it is a gray truck. Here is a picture of them.

I am wanting to make a harness for them so I can simply plug and play when it comes time to install them. Like installing a car stereo, if you wire up the harness outside of the truck it is alot easier and faster. I am thinking about getting the Recon Smoked lights for my truck since it is a gray truck. Here is a picture of them.

The harness part number that I gave should be plug and play. It plugs into a spot on the side of the passenger's side dash that is not used. You can also get a harness to replace the current one (expensive and not necessary), but there are multiple harnesses depending on your trucks options (Onstar, XM). Wire harness part number 15846970 will power the roof markers only so you will still need your existing harness. Please verify part numbers before you order because I do not want to be responsible for any mistakes.

Just to be clear, I don't have Onstar, XM, or cab lights. If I get the GM harness I can use it to plug in to the fuse panel spot. Then I can wire the aftermarket cab lights to the gm harness correct? That is what I am going after. I can wire the individual lights to the gm harness but I want the plug down to the fuse panel that interfaces correctly.

I would like to know that too. It sure would make it easier. Not sure how the aftermarket kits are but it would be easier to have a wire from the fuse block that runs right up to the lights and you mount the lights and then plug them in.

i like thelight's from signal stat #1312a we installed them all the time at a truck equipment shop i used to work at .here is a pdf link for the catalog there on page 78
