Homelink Garage Door Opener

does anyone know the sequence for programming my craftsman opener with red prog button on the opener,to my homelink in my truck, it is a 1997 suburban but the homelink is out of a 99-01ish bravada ,which shouldn't matter . i know it works just can't seem to get it to pick up the signal , any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

you might have to clear the codes in the homelink... ( I think you hold the two outside buttons for 30 secs until the lights blink?)

then you just need to be close!! maybe in the garage.

Hit the code button on the opener and then go through the homelink process. most openers give you about 30 secs.

Should work like a charm.. ( I could only get my center one to program?? I might be able to do others now but at first the center was all i could get to work.)

yes holding the two outside buttons for 30 seconds and the led will blink,, this clears previous codes.

it depends on if your craftsnman has rolling codes or not on teh 2 different programming methods.

method #1 is hold the remote close to the homelink and press remote and hold while pressing homelink button of your choice

method #2 is for rolling codes [im rusty but close] you have to train homelink to the garage door opener simular to method #1 but you keep holding both buttons down for up to a few minutes so homelink can retain all the codes in remote. next i believe you hold homlink programmed button to sync it up with the garage door codes.

most graage door opener have a switch on the motor area and you can set it to non rolling codes if you feel secure enough about where you live

I just did mine last week also with a Craftsman

press two outside button for 2 seconds

go to garage door opener and press the "Learn button"

within 30 seconds, go press and hold the button you want to use to open the door until the door closes. Once the door closes, release, press it again to test.

Hey guys just a side note here...

Don't leave anything with your address on it in your truck. My friend was at the mall with his wife 2 months ago. Came out, his 2008 Silvy 4X4 was gone.

They get a ride home from another friend after doing the cop thing at the mall...Got home and thought "that's weird...Our garage door is open"...So was the door from the garage to the house...

2 LCD TV's...Gone....Golf Clubs...Gone...home ransacked....Bummer. When they ask the neighbor if he saw anything he says...Not really....But I was wondering why you were loading all your stuff into your truck and didn't even stop to say hi!?

The truck thief used the stolen truck to get into the house and take their things in their truck...That's a slap in the face...

The cops caught the guy 4 days later in the truck out off-roading. He told the cops he used the insurance card in the truck to get their home address...Knowing they were stuck at the mall he went on over and helped himself to a few things.

I now cut the address out of my insurance card and have nothing in my truck with my address.

That's one reason I use a PO Box for my mail.

And that can happen the same with the remote clipped to the visor. In my wife's tent on wheels (convertible), the garage opener is hidden for that reason.

Garage Door Opener Programming

Important

Do not use the garage door opener (GDO) with any garage door opener that does not have the stop and reverse safety feature. This includes any garage door opener model manufactured before April 1, 1982.

Be sure that people and objects are clear of the garage door you are programming.

The GDO is programmed by using the customer's hand-held transmitter(s).

Turn the ignition OFF while programming the GDO transmitter. Follow these steps to program up to 3 channels:

<LI type=1>If you have previously programmed a transmitter, proceed to Step 2. Otherwise, hold down the 2 outside buttons on the GDO transmitter for approximately 20 seconds, until the light on the GDO transmitter begins to flash rapidly. Then release the buttons. This procedure erases any previous settings and initializes the memory for all 3 channels. <LI type=1>Decide which of the 3 channels you want to program to the transmitter you have. <LI type=1>Hold the end of the hand-held transmitter against the front surface of the GDO (less than 1 inch) so you can still see the light. <LI type=1>Using both hands, press the hand-held transmitter button and the desired button on the GDO transmitter. Continue to hold both buttons through Step 5.

Important
The GDO is compatible with most, but not all, types and brands of transmitters. If the GDO light does not flash rapidly after 90 seconds, there may be a compatibility conflict with the transmitter used to program the GDO. Call HomeLink™ at 1-800-355-3515 in order to address this problem.
Hold down the buttons on both transmitters until you see the light on the GDO transmitter flash slowly and then rapidly. The rapid flashing, which could take up to 90 seconds, indicates that the GDO transmitter has been programmed. Release the buttons on both transmitters when the light starts to flash rapidly.

Training the GDO for Rolling Code Receivers

This procedure is for training the customer's rolling code garage door openers to their GDO transmitter. The GDO must already be programmed to its hand-held transmitter. The training process below must be completed within 30 seconds or it must be repeated.

<LI type=1>Locate the train button on the garage door opener receiver. Refer to the operator's manual for the garage door opener (or call HomeLink™ at 1-800-355-3515 for assistance). Follow instructions for the garage door opener in order to determine when the unit is in train mode. <LI type=1>Return to the GDO transmitter in the vehicle, and press the button that you want trained for rolling codes 3 times, for 1 second each time. If not successfully programmed, try 2-5 seconds each time.
Press the button used again in order to verify that the GDO transmitter has been programmed.

You may use either the hand-held transmitter or the GDO to open the garage door.

The GDO is compatible with most, but not all, types and brands of transmitters. If the GDO light does not flash rapidly after 90 seconds, there may be a compatibility conflict with the transmitter used to program the GDO. Call HomeLink™ at 1-800-355-3515 in order to address compatibility concerns.

Erasing Channels

To erase programmed channels, hold down the 2 outside buttons until the light on the GDO transmitter begins to flash. Individual channels cannot be erased, but can be reprogrammed using the Garage Door Opener Programming and the Training GDO for Rolling Code Receivers procedures.

i am having no luck, i've tried all of these sequences with no luck i can get the signal prog. to the truck ,but not to the opener. i read instructions from a friends 06 gmc sierra with homelink and it wont take. any other suggestions?

Our 2005 Envoy Homelink won't find the code either...I gave up. It works fine from my truck.
