New Lift

I am about to get a Chevy 1500 Z71, and I am planning on lifting it. What is the safest way to lift it? I want to lift it 6 inches, but my dad thinks that when you lift them that much they aren't safe. I also want to get 35" Toyo M/T tires.

define "safe".

If you mean they're more unstable and have a higher probability to roll over, then your dad is right. If you understand this though and drive it like its meant to be, and not like a sports car then you should be fine.... You still have decreased maneuverability though if you have to swerve to avoid something, but that's for you and your dad to discuss. I've driven a lifted truck my whole life and not once did I ever feel "unsafe" or like I was going to lose control. Lift it with a quality suspension lift and increase the track width with some wider wheels/tires to improve stability, get quality shocks to also add stability (by reducing sudden body roll) and you'll be fine IMO.

6" with ~35s isn't all that high on these trucks. Try going to a somewhat local truck show.... the 6" lifted trucks will look small and your dad may change his mind :idiot:
