Dome Light Question

Did a little research and found the answer to my question here, but I still have one other question to clear up for the install of said dome light override switch...

 

In the thread it states there's a white and a red wire going to the dome light; I assume they're talking directly to the light itself. Are these same wires located on the dome switch near the headlamp switch where I can splice into it, or would I have to come from the door switch? BTW... this is going on a 90 Sierra SLE ex cab, with map lights.

 

Also... new to the forum, but am in no way new to GMs! Selling my Ford for the GMC, time for a change. Have owned 78 and 79 C-10's and 77 and 78 Novas as well.
