I have a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado with the cd theftlock stereo, with volume control etc....I think it is the top of the line for a gm radio. My question is does anyone know what the unused plug in, on the back can be used for? Could i use this to add a i-pod connection?

Thanks people! I actually think the unit sounds pretty darn good for a "stock" stereo.(That is with the CD)The radio still sounds like sheet tho.You are right about the prices of those adapter kits.Cheaper to go with a after market radio. What I was hoping to do till i get back to work was hardwire my Sirius sat stereo into the plug with a homemade connection. I recently bought a fm modulater for it for about $40.00 cdn, but it wont work without a adapter.(Another $30.00!) Its a little late now but I should of bought a aftermarket radio with a ipod input.

Good find Thunderstruck ! Think I might try that.Only thing is I don't have the theftlock code,so I will have to do the code retrieval and phone call BS. I should be able to do the same thing with the unused plug if I'm lucky.

PM Me I have the Din 1/2 top of the line pioneer unit i just removed from my 2000 when I bought my 2009. I have the plugs and the Pionee Aux adaptor that you can use for sat radio, MP3 Ipod ect, this thing will install in your truck in about 15 minutes, it has remote with alarm function ect. I paid a little over $300 from Crutch field for the entire set up 2 1/2 years ago. It's like brand new. I will sell it for $150.00 shipped. They are e-baying for about the same price and no adaptor which is about $35.00.

This one is very nice, the face is perfect. If intrested PM me I'l send some pics. I was in the same boat as you and wanted better sound and no Fm modualtor. They all sounded bad. This thinhg also has sub out and a cross over system that works awsome slope. It can bea little hard to use at first but once set up it's a hell of a radio/cd/Aux player. The other nice thing is all the aux adaptor stuff plugs in the rear so you don't hace a cable sticking out the front and it looks great in the dash and fits like factory unit.
