Welding Spider Gears

heres the deal i have a 78 chevy 1 ton single wheel 14 bolt with 44 inch super swamper's i only use my truck around the yard plowing snow i get so mad when i get stuck on ice and only 1 rear tire spin's ..so i was wondering how many people have welded there spider gears to make there own locker ? or should i go out and spend $400 on a detroit locker ? thanks for reading my post ...oh and other thing i do not get stuck in snow ever only when it's icey under neath ever one should have a truck like this to plow snow

Lincoln locker can work on slippery surfaces. Dry pavement use will end up breaking something.

I know many a people that have welded them. All of them used their trucks on asphalt as well as off road and never broke anything. They just wore through tires on the rear. Go for it especially since it is for snow applications.
