Need Exhaust Suggestions...

Ok, my Flowmaster muffler just blew apart after 3 years (yeah, not happy) and I want a decent exhaust at a great price. What have you guys used what is the approx. cost?

I have a '05 2500 6L Ext cab and I think I want to go cat-back this time. I was checking out the MBRP brand at realtruck.com and they seemed like a good S/S dual system at a price of ~ $480. Anyone have experience with this brand?

Thanks in advance!

I like the Dynomax Ultraflow and the Magnaflow SS mufflers. Smooth and mellow at idle and cruise. Loud and throaty at WTFO.

ive been planning on putting on a magnaflow once my flowmaster starts to go... piping is all still good, but sometimes the drone gets to me especially in the morning with a hangover :)

I just traded in my Yukon, and the Flowmaster exhaust I put on it rotted here in the snow belt within two years. I had a JBA stainless kit that I got for about $380 at Summit Racing on the truck for the last three years. Looked great and sounded great. I loved it and I am patiently waiting for them to come out with a Cat-back kit for my new Silverado. Just my two cents.....

I have the MBRP kit and I love it. It sounds like flowmaster and its a lot deeper than the mellow magnaflows. I have had my exhaust for over a year now and it still looks good. I also have the 409 stainless and not the full 304 stainless.

Do a search and I have a video and pictures of the exhaust.

Thanks for all the input guys!

Nadie, did you do the install on your MBRP kit? All these cat-back systems seem pretty easy to install, but I was wondering how your install went? Was it basically bolt on? How about brackets where the duals go where there were no hangers before? Also, where did you purchase from? I only priced them from realtrucks.com because they were awesome to deal with in the past, but I am open to buying anywhere. Thanks!

WOW. It must really suck to live in the rust belt states. I know the guy who owns my old 97 Chevy excab and the original Flowmaster I installed on it is still in great shape. I helped him replace shocks less than a year ago.

Yes, I installed it myself. It was easy to bolt on, but it can be a pain to get it perfectly aligned. I had to seperate the pipes from each other when they go over the axle. But with time you can get it to align up right. I got mine from autoanything.com. They offer free shipping and you can get up to 15% off when they send you emails about sales.

I am also in the market for a good exhaust system. After a lot of searches on several forums and websites, I have narrowed it down to about 3 with the MBRP system in the lead for right now! My biggest concern is with the drone/resonance that many of these systems have at low (normal) RPMs. The terribly annoying noise that this causes in the interior can drive you crazy. I had a Magnaflow system in my previous Hummer and the noise inside was horrible. I was embarrassed to have people ride with me anywhere! :)

So, do you have any issues with interior drone/resonance with your MBRP exhaust?

I added a driveway-installed Gibson Dual Extreme cat back to mine. They're not really extreme at all. Nice mellow idle and they talk nice under load with no drone at all. Gibson makes aluminized pipes with either an aluminized steel or S/S muffler. The tips are 3 1/2" 304 stainless. I wanted a quiet/no drone (family) and inexpensive (me cheap) system to wake up my truck a bit. I actually found the all aluminized steel system on Amazon for $348 shipped.

I just had a 24" (I believe) Magnaflow installed. WIll try to get a video up. I am attaching some pics, as you can see, I only replaced the OEM muffler and added a tip. Total cost installed was $285. It has a wonderful tone, and VERY LITTLE if any drone.

The shop owner at which I purchased it told me when I asked about Corsa that they are great if you want to spend lots of money for a similar product. He is also a Corsa dealer, and says that, as far as he is concerned, Corsa's marketing department is great, and his hat is off the them for being able to fetch such high prices.

I asked about the "no drone" claim, and he said that it is simply not possible to have a straight through muffler with "no drone". He reports also that it is not true in actual applications. I have no opinion on this because I have never had a Corsa, but I was thinking about it. Interested to hear what others say about this. Wish I knew someone with a Corsa so I could compare.

In my case, I think that the large Magnaflow helps to keep drone to a bare minimum.

Well trust me,He is TOTALLY off base with his accusations,There is NO drone with CORSA systems,I have had them on my last three trucks ('99 w/4.8-'04 w/5.3-'07 w/6.0)

I can't believe he is a CORSA dealer and making claims and saying things like that :smash:

I guarantee you that I have NO drone,or I wouldn't have it!

What what you say here and what so many others have said on this site made it all the more interesting to me that he would say that. I will keep this in mind and might find myself ordering one of those separate Corsa mufflers one day down the road a year or two, to replace my Magnaflow should i grow tired of the minor drone I expect to be hearing.
