Engine Detail

HD crew, How do you keep your engine compartment clean? I usually spray simple green and just rinse off. I mist the hose so not to soak electrical parts. Anything I should worry about? Any feedback appreciated.

Well i detail cars on the side so the only advice i would give is yes keep the engine compartments clean. Use a mild degreaser (when the engine is cold) and make sure the fuse box and the alternator are covered with a plastic bag. When you rise it off let it sit for 5 min then start it and let it run for a good 5-10 min so it can heat up and everything dries good.

I clean mine every week, if you do it this way, just a simple damp towel is needed with a minimal amount of work. Motor still looks as clean as the day i picked her up.

Mr. Tang is right, frequent cleaning will allow you to just use a rag/towel and some water. Then you can spray some protectant on if you wish to give it some gloss under the hood.

Some oil spray can be done and should be cleanes with soft cotton stuff...it will really work...I clean my engine ones in a month and that will increase the life of my engine...so this is very simple and can be done easily.

I just aim for the cleanest looking deep puddles on rainy days and hit them at 70.
