Will Onstar with a new H/U work?

I just bought a new 2500HD extended cab with the 8.1 and allison.Its a great truck except for the factory audio system.

Can this system be replaced whithout screwing up the Onstar?If so how?

I swapped the OEM unit for a new Alpine unit, I recently realized I have no audio for On-Star (no big deal, the haven't been able to unlock my doors twice, so I don't really think its a big loss), but would like to keep the integrity of the system.

 

Anyone know what to tap into to solve this ?

SoundGate STARMOD1, It allows you to keep OnStar with an aftermarket head.

You guys should also check out PAC.  they make great stuff for stock HU's.  I know they make something for the onstar.

How do you hook it up if you're running RCA's to your amp?

GM changed the VIU (vehicle inteface unit) on the '02 Silverado's. So if you're thinking of using it to interface with the OnStar system, it might not be compatible. Go to Soundgates website for more info. www.soundgate.com
