1986 305 Slow Acceleration

Hello! I'm new here. The truck is a 1986 GMC sierra classic with a carb 305. My problem is my truck acts like it has no power under load. It will rev in park fine. But when driving it and you mash it, it accelerates vvveeerrry slowly. It doesnt hesitate or stutter that i can tell. What are the possibilities? I am thinking of getting a rebuilt carb but do not want to waste the money if its something simple.

Sounds ALOT like you have an exhaust restriction, The Catalytic Converter may be plugged up. You may want to drop the exhaust and see how it runs before changing out or rebuilding the carb.....
