S-10 Blazer Egr Piping

Greetings,

My sister has a 2001 S-10 Blazer 4.3L auto. On the left exhaust manifold, there's a pipe that goes to the egr system. There's a short metal pipe that leads to a 90 degree rubber elbow. I replaced this elbow about 5 months ago and now it's blown apart again. When it breaks, there's a lot of exhaust noise at acceleration. Is there some other problem that would cause this elbow to blow out so quickly??

Actually, I stand corrected. It was the A.I.R. system. There's an air pump that pushes fresh air into the exhaust manifold when the engine is in open loop mode. The check valve that lets the fresh air into the manifold but keeps the exhaust out of the A.I.R. piping was bad. Therefore, it was letting exhaust gasses past and burning the rubber elbow leading to the check valve. I changed the check valve and the rubber elbow and all's well.
