Off Road Red Posted August 4, 2002 Posted August 4, 2002 Earlier tonight I blew one of my 12" Phoenix Gold Tantrum 12d's, popped the cone right off the voice coil. We were playing Keeny Chesney's song Young way to loud with the subs cranked all the way up, we heard a loud rattle then the sub died. I am probably going to replace both subs (never really liked the Phoenix Golds too much) any suggestions on what to get? I have been looking at a pair of Rockfords, probably the HE2's.
2k2TahoeSS Posted August 4, 2002 Posted August 4, 2002 I've never been a huge fan of fosgate stuff personally, but thats your call. I would DEFINATLEY recomend JL Audio. the new w3-v2 is really nice as is the new w6-v2. Alpine makes some good as well. Boston Acousics aren't a bad solution either. Thats my rant. Good luck Ben
LarryE Posted August 4, 2002 Posted August 4, 2002 rockford amps is the only kind I would use but their speakers suck big time kicker is the only way to go for serious pounding
vortec4800 Posted September 2, 2002 Posted September 2, 2002 Rockford amps are some of the best available, and their subs are awesome too. Their head units and speakers, on the other hand, aren't as good.
oogabooga Posted September 2, 2002 Posted September 2, 2002 I hate RF subs. They sound like banging empty milk cartons together. I would go with Elemental Designs or Adire Audio. Not very big name brands, but just as good, if not better, for a cheaper price. http://www.edesignaudio.com/ep/kseries.htm http://www.adireaudio.com/car_audio/subwoofers/shiva.htm http://www.adireaudio.com/car_audio/subwoo...ahma_series.htm The Brahma is considered one of the best subs out there right now; on par with the JL Audio W7, but for about half the price.
