Well my uncles are part of a BBQ cooking team. There are 5 of them all in their 20's and 30's (My mother is the oldest of 8). Well I'm 20 now so that makes us pretty close. This year for Thanksgiving we wanted to give a little something back.

My Grandfather who funded the whole BBQ cooking team bought 100 turkeys to give away on Thanksgiving... We gave them to the neediest 100 families around my home town (Senatobia, Ms, Just south of Memphis). We could cook 52 at a time (we had to eat too! It takes 4 to feed my family) with some pushing shoving and cussing of course. I helped them out on this one since I was home for the holidays. Hopefully when I'm out of school I can help them out some more. Turkeys went on at 11 AM and 2 AM, I was there the whole time.

These are a few pictures of their rig they have. The BBQ cooking team is called Euporkia... The rig weighs around 16,000lbs, its all my uncles 2500 duramax wants!!

(Sorry the pictures are crappy they are off a iPhone)

It was hard to get a good view of the side of it. You can see the big stainless steel doors and those are the cookers. They have a rib, shoulder, and whole hog cooker. To the far left in the back of the trailer is a big double-door Viking refrigerator.

This is my uncle pouring in the wood to the fires. We cooked them at 250 for 8 hours.

That's a very cool thing you guys did! It's nice to see people giving back to the community like that. :P

Your uncles have quite the set-up. I smoked a turkey on our Big Green Egg a few weeks ago for my wife and I. We have decided that smoking a turkey is the only way to go now.

You're not kidding man. They were so much better smoked compared to deep fried. We'll never deep fry one again! We are planning on doing hams for Christmas... So I think this will be a yearly thing.

We all felt good about doing it. Of course some people came rolling up in Cadillac's to get their turkey but we figured hey if we helped 1 person it was worth it. And most people were very thankful and some little old ladies got our address to write us thank you notes.

My hat's off to you and your family for that amazing gesture. It's great to hear about people who still care about others. I struggle to wrap my mind around the fact that, in this day and age, people in this country go hungry. God bless you and your family! :P

That's quite a cooking rig you have there! It takes me all day to cook just one turkey, let alone 52 at once!

Well I appreciate it. Its a new look my grandad has had since he had a stroke a few months ago. He's a big man and always has been (We call him 'Big Jake' even though his name is Al) he's 300 pounds.

He's always told me 'If you're gonna do it, you might as well be the baddest son of a bitch around' so thats where the rig came from! Lets just say no one mistakes who you are when you come rolling in!
