Transmission Problem

I just swapped a rebuilt trans into my friends 2000 1500 4x4. The problem is that now the tranny doesn't go into gear. The linkage moves and the selector on the dash reads the gears but nothing.

 

A little run down on what i've done.

 

filled the new torque convertor before installing.

connected all connectors ( double checked they were all connected)

New transfercase fluid

put 6 quarts of fluid in the trans before starting

added an inline filter in the upper trans cooler line( I was told this was the return line)

 

I just don't know what could be wrong here. Any advice is appreciated, Thanx.

You could be low on fluid...it takes 15 quarts from empty, after a flush.....maybe more brand new....

 

If you cannot see fluid on the stick than you need to add more....maybe a lot more.

6 quarts is way too little.

Thanx, everyone. I will add more in the am. Funny thing is there is a little fluid on the stick, threw me off.
