Best Place To Buy Electronics

Hello all, I have a 2004 Silverado 1500 Extended cab Z71 with a broken CD player that won't eject the CD, and although I dearly like Led Zepplin, I'd like to listen to something else for a while. Instead of having it repaired, I'd like to replace it with a good quality CD player/FM receiver. I also need two front door speakers. The drivers side speaker sounds like crap. It will need to be able to play CD-Rs.

 

Can you folks recommend a a couple of reputable online sources for auto electronics and maybe even a suggestion or few of a good unit to get. I'd like a head unit that has enough power to drive all the speakers without adding an external amp. The double din units look nice, big digits, old eyes, but still like it loud at times.

Most Custom Cd players like sony and pioneer will play all of the speakers alot better then the stock will but still not top of the line the only way you would need another amp is if you wanted Subwoofer or Top of the line sound

If you were looking for double din, I have one that came out of my last truck. Bought a new truck with the complete system so no longer needed this one.

Crutchfield.com is your place to go for for good information on how to build a quality system. They have great features to help you narrow down your search and they have customer reviews. Sonicelectronix.com is also good, but I would go for them for the price, not the customer support and warranty issues.

 

If you want something cheap but powerful, the new sony head units are very nice, they are single din, but are under $200 and provide plenty of power with an easy to read screen. I've installed three of them in my friends cars already and they love them.

 

Also, I would purchase a head unit before buying new speakers. You'd be surprised by how big of a difference a new head unit will sound. When I put one of these sony's in my friends car, his factory speakers actually sounded better than the new ones he just got. Just play around with the settings on the unit until you're satisfied, and if not, then go ahead with the speaker purchase.

Jason Kelley hit it right on the head kind of. Crutchfield is good for getting the info but don't buy from them seriously too expensive go with Sonicelectronix. I started buying from them when they first got off the ground and have been a loyal customer ever since.
