Galv Bodies...rumors?

Recommended Posts

As far as I know, all auto manufacturers use galvaneeled steel when forming body panels. When I used to make Western Star big rig body panels, we used 16 gauge galvaneeled steel. Galvaneeled steel is essentially galvanized steel that has been de-stressed so it can withstand deep drawing such as in forming of body panels without tearing.

Floorpans in the '85 & '86 C/K trucks (last built in Oshawa of that generation) were galvanized.

When the GMT400 was intro'd in late '86, all the panels were galv' except the roof.

Same w/ the GMT800 & GMT900.

The only panel that isn't galvanized is the roof. Everything else galvanized on those 2 trucks.
