I have a 2003 Silverado 2500 with a 6.0ltr and a 4L80E trans 4x4, the other day the trans broke the output shaft, rear planet gears and a bushing or two, had it repaired and now the trans overheats and then it willstall when going into reverse, thought it was the cooler, so we put a new heavt duty cooler direct, but it still gets hot, does anyone have any ideas, because I plow with this truck, and tis'the season. It gets really hot when I plow with it, never done this before I had the trans fixed. Thanks

I assume you had it completely rebuilt? Who did the work, take it back to them and tell them what is going on have them fix it.

I would say that it still needs to be fixed... as in, there was more damage to the transmission than was found and repaired the first time

patching an automatic transmission .... in my opinion ... is just not the way to go ,,, if it is overheating, then you have some major clutch slippage going on there to generate all that heat

you want it back in service ASAP, so either find one in a wrecker yard and swap it in ... or pull that thing out of there and have a good transmission mechanic do a total rebuild

What he said^^^. Or the cooler was not flushed at all and you have no fluid flow. Make sure the lines and cooler get flushed and flushed again after the next repair what ever one you choose.
