I like this lock. It's got a nice OEM look. The parts look durable. If you've got a spray in bedliner like I do, it's a bit more difficult to get to the bolt on the inside of the tailgate. In my case, I grabbed the bolt with vice-grips and worked it out enough that I could cut the liner around the washer with a utility knife and remove it cleanly. Also, the placement of the pivoting part requires that you pay attention, but it's easy to install.

I think the end product looks nice. It works very well. A determined theif could probably defeat it if he knew how, but that's the case with just about everything. I would recommend it. I like it better than the plate that went over the lock on my 95.

This lock from JP Customs is the BULLY Lock available from Pep Boys for $19.95 + tax.

I agree the lock takes some time to install, but I found the problem, not with my Line-X bed liner but to keeping the lock straight (has a spring loaded lever) against the tailgate to line up the screw. But then again I installed it at 10PM with hardly any light and going by feel.

The lock key is of similar length as the door/ignition key, (haven't checked yet) so the lock might be changed with a GM lock and keyed to the door key for maintaining a one key system.

For the price to prevent casual tailgate theft and not having to drill a hole and place a bolt over the right hinge I give it a 9.5

If you pay $35 I would say it only would rate about 8.5 for the money.

I also bought one of these from JP Customs recently (got it through them because I was ordering some other stuff anyway and decided to get as much as I could from the same place). I like the "factory" look of the Bully lock, and if I can get it rekeyed to fit the factory truck key that'll be a nice bonus. I haven't looked into that yet though.
