Heavy Duty Telescopic Towing Mirrors

Recommended Posts

Can someone that have the telescopic towing mirrors, the factory ones for the HD measure the total width of the truck from mirror to mirror when they are not extended and not folded? I am trying to figure out it the truck will fit in the garage without folding, I have a 9 feet wide door. I only have like 4 inches on both sides with my stock mirrors.

I just went out and measured and came up with between 99 and 100 inches with them in normal non-extended driving configuration. That is on a 09 GMC 2500HD.

good info

what about how far do they stick out measured from the door where it mounts to the end of the mirror.

Thanks for the measurement.

My door opening is 105.5", my stock are 96 inches wide. So looks like it would fit, but be tight. I'd be alright with it, but can't say the same thing for the other driver that's used to drive her VW Cabrio (Golf with a rag top).

I wish I could keep the power folding feature with the HD towing mirrors, but it can't.

The best measurement I can get is to measure from the bottom of the side window, parallel to the ground and perpendicular to the side window to the outside edge of the mirror. That measurement is 14.5" with the mirror in a normal driving position not extended. These mirrors have a position that is at 90 degrees to the side window. I do not know when anyone would use them in this position. The position that I have been measuring is what I would call the normal slightly swept back position. There are what I would call "lock" positions on these mirrors. They will "lock" in place at 90 degrees to the side window or swept back slightly. I hope this helps.

See post number 5 for what I am calling the normal driving position.

Well the extended mirrors with the width of the truck can't be over 102 inches total or it wouldn't fit in the lane on the highway. You would be oversize then and DOT would have fun with you over that.

I have the towing mirrors AND 9 foot wide garage doors. The truck fits thru fine without folding them in. There are only a few inches to spare but I always go very slowly and keep the drivers side mirror very close to the door edge so I know the passenger side has plenty of room.

The few times my wife drove the truck she asked me to pull it in/out of the garage.

It will not fit with the mirrors in extended towing mode.

I have a three car garage....a double bay and a single bay. Wife gets the double for her tiny suv, and I get the single side....ha

I have about an inch on each side of my tow mirrors and tagged one mirror sightly after a party...ugh. No damage,...lucky.

My son has an f250 and it wont fir without folding the mirrors.
