6.2 And Z71

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to build a truck on the Chevy site, and it won't let me select the 6.2 as an option while the Z71 package is selected; I did notice that there are people on this site who appear to have a 6.2 that is a Z71.

So what's the deal? Can you do it or the trucks I've seen on here Z71 clones?

TIA.

Z71 has nothing to do with the engine... you need to add the tow package as well as the Z71. Im not sure what the tow package RPO is now, but its going to be something along the lines of "heavy duty trailering package"

Thank you for the quick reply. I know Z71 has nothing to do with the engine, which is why I don't understand why it won't let me select both options.

I select the Max Trailering Pack (which seems to be the only way to get the 6.2 on there), then if I select Z71 Appearance Package or Z71 Suspension Package it forces me to deselect the Max Trailering Pack...

yeah that's weird.. I was able to do it in the EC 4x4 version because it gave the 6.2L as an engine option that I could click on. It doesn't do that with the LTZ CC...

Theres your issue....You CANNOT get the Max Trailering Package (RPO code "NHT") with the Z71 suspension package.

The Max Trailering Package (RPO code "NHT") is limited to the Z85 "Handling/Trailering" suspension only.

You have to spec. trailering package (RPO code "Z82") separately if you want the trailering pkg. with the 6.2

You CAN get the 6.2 with the Z71 package,It just can't have the "NHT" package also.

NHT and Z82 are two different towing packages (Although NHT includes Z82 as part of it) Z82 is available separately as a "free-flow" option, where NHT is limited to certain options/equipment.

RyanbabZ71 has a 2010 crew-cab with the 6.2 and Z71 package.

Thanks MS3Dale.

So, since the site won't let me add the 6.2 without selecting the Max Trailering Pack, I guess I need to go to a dealership in order to build exactly what I want? I know that's what would be required eventually, but it's nice to just go in there and hand them a sheet and say, "Here. Get me this."

No, they can't do that either...The Z71 has different springs/shocks than the heavy duty package....You can TRY but wtf is the point? There is very little left of my Z71 other than the sticker that a regular 4x4 has...You want a Z71 bad, just order it with the stickers and have the dealer put em on. It's all cosmetic

Pretty much,I think Ryan was having issues adding the Z71 pkg. with the 6.2 also,Like I said the main thing is you can't get the Z71 and NHT pkg. together because the NHT pkg. comes with its own suspension pkg. (Z85)

I remember having issues when I ordered my truck back in '07,We also thought at first that the Z71 pkg. was not available with the 6.0,But after I did some checking I found out it could be ordered as a separate option.

My bad then, sorry. Last I heard a dealer couldn't really order it differently than the online spec setup

Yeah,We actually use a totally different system to order vehicles thats not assessable to the general public.

You'd be surprised the mistakes that are on the "online" ordering/spec websites.

Yes I do. I have a Z71 with the 6.2 and the reg towing pkg.

Go to nadaguides.com or cars.com and build it there, print that off and take it to the dealer.

I also have a 2010 LT with 6.2 and a 6 speed transmission Z71 4X4 but not the max trailering package. I did not realize that this was possible but when I was looking this one came up.
