Difference Between Levelling Kits ?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at various levelling kits for my 2008 Sierra Z71, has anyone used the spacer kits that mount on the bottom of the strut tower ?? Are they better or equal to the spacer rings that mount on the top of the tower ?? Looking for 1.5" to 2" of lift. Thanks !

I think the general consensus you'll find is that the lower mounted ones are much easier to install, and do not require cutting of any studs or rotating the struts from one side to the other.

just my 2cents...

I have the "new" 2" composite Rough Country kit that mounts under the strut assembly. Wasnt hard to install.

I agree, I have installed both and the lower is much much easier and doesnt require you to remove the strut. Basically you just remove the 2 lower bolts and let the lower control arm sag, slide spacer in and insert/tighten the new bolts....very easy.

I do plan on switching to the rancho quicklift struts someday though

I have the Rough Country kit that goes under the strut. Was a easy install. Have had it on for almost two years now and no problems. Great kit IMO.

Wow your truck looks great !! Thanks for the input !! Did the 2" bring the truck up level ? I see some guys going with the 1.5" because they thought it brought the front end higher than the rear. My truck is similar to yours 1500 Ext cab Z71, but have the stock 17" wheels.
