Automatic Power Folding Mirrors?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Do you know if there is a way to program the power folding mirrors to AUTOMATICALLY fold when you put the truck in PARK? I would love for this to happen without me having to do anything!

Perhaps there is an add-on that can do it if it can't be programmed?

Thanks in advance!

I'm sure that there is a GM Tech on the Forum somewhere that can point us in the right direction. Honestly I'm well out of my league when it comes to vehicle electrical wiring or I would try to look at a schematic.

The only way I could figure it out was to modify the driverside switch and use relays controlled by my aftermarket alarm to simulate button pushes.

Most likely you'd need to custom wire a relay of some sort that triggers the mirrors when the vehicle is shifted into or out of park. Probably more trouble than it's worth, I'm betting.

Wow, that looks like it's overly complex......nice job!

Good idea, this would be similar to how the doors can be programmed to lock/unlock when shifted in and out of Park. Anyone know how that is wired?

That's all done through the communication bus. So there's nothing to really wire.

I don't have the backup camera feature, so I'm just throwing the idea out there....Does the backup camera switch on automatically when the vehicle is put in Reverse? If so, then one could duplicate that kind of circuit for the mirrors in "Park".

Exactly.... everything is done via computer programs that aren't very easily altered if you're not a GM engineer. Custom features being "wired" up isn't as easy as it used to be.

So I'm hoping that there is a GM Engineer or Tech on the forum that can help!

Let me re-phrase that: it simply can't be altered. Even if there were a GM engineer that worked on the development of that particular software component of the GMT900 trucks, he wouldn't be able to tell you to take it to the dealer and have them do xyz to make it work like you want.

Bummer.....thanks for the reply!
