Darn Clinging Lint From Microfiber Towels

Make sure you dont buy the made in China ones. They are the only ones I have lint problems with. I usually use those on my rims

Ryan, what kind do you use on the truck exterior? I'm giving up on using these on the truck exterior and glass. Rims only it looks like.

I have two kinds and one seems to leave more behind than the other. I just use my cali-duster to get all the lint off after a wash :fume:

LOL...I buy mine at Canadian Tire :D But you guys probably have very little idea what that is.

Like I said...mine are for glass..and says lint free on the label...they've been good so far.

Sometimes when you wash them they pick up some lint from the washer...but a second wash or a vacuuming takes care of it most of the time for me.

I get that from the Costco towels, my Meguiars don't do that.

I ordered the Meguiars waffle and supreme shine this evening.

Aiden _ its not like normal lint. Its the fine fibers from the towels and they are washed separately in cold water when needed. The cheapo ones will be used for the rims and fender wells.

Newspaper is the best thing ever invented for drying/cleaning windows and it's cheap.

I read that the old newspaper was great for cleaning the windows when they had kerosene in the ink, but since they removed the kerosene, it's not that good anymore.

I have close to 100 Costco towels, you're supposed to wash them seperately and washing a few towels is a waste plus you have to wash them so often. I was tired of those little tiny fibers left on the glass, after learning a lot about the whole detailing idea I had purchased a bunch of the Supreme Shine towels and found they worked awesome on the glass.

Really? I've never had that problem with the Costco towels, and I've been using them for years! Probably have 2-300 of them or so (note that I am a professional detailer, so I go through a lot of them very quickly and often).

I will however note that with microfiber towels, you DO want to wash them separately, with no fabric softener or drier sheets, and make sure you use either no or low heat to dry them. Getting them too hot will melt the fibers and destroy the towels!

When I start seeing lint on the exterior, it's usually because it needs to be clayed.

They actually sell a micro fiber specific detergent. I use this on all my automotive towels and such that I use.
