Oil Pressure Readings

Mine:

Cold at start up (45 degrees) 45 psi

Warm 45psi

At idle about 35psi

The pressure never seems to go above 45psi even if I get on it. Is this normal?

Normal, mine runs 45 on highway warm, 30 at idle, cold 45-50 idle. wouldnt worry

My '04 only has the gauge, so the pressure reading's are approximate. Mine is usually around 40 when cruising down the road. With a heavy trailer on the back, you can watch the gauge go up and down when accelerating.

The engine has an oil pressure regulator that will only let the pressure get up to a certain point and then it will open and the pressure will top out. The oil will be thicker when cold and thinner when hot so the pressures will be different with oil temp. Sounds like you have nothing to worry about.

Mine floats around 40 at idle and press the gas and get the RPMS at about 1200 and its 60...... My truck had got to where it would be 60 off idle till I stopped at a red light and then it would stay at 40 regardless of RPM. Flushed the engine with some engine flush ran it about 10 minutes on fresh oil and new filter. Dumped the oil and filter. Put a new filter on and 6 more quarts of syntec 10w30.... Took 2 times like that of changing the oil and my pressure came back.... (on the 10 minute run i just used regular castrol 10w30).

Be careful if you have never flushed a engine. You can cause problems QUICKLY. The flush breaks loose stuff that you would have swore was not in your engine and sends it to the oil pump screen and pump. If the oil pressure starts dropping. Kill the engine..... Drain oil, change filter, and refill. Crank if oil pressure does not return. Pull the pan and clean the oil screen. Refill and try again.

I have started a regiment of 1/3 can of Seafoam in the engine and about 5 minute drive then change the oil and filter.
