Truck Crapped Out Today

Recommended Posts

So today i ran to the pet store to pick up some dog food for my german shepherd. On the trip there the truck ran perfect. Well, walking back to the truck i tried to activate my remote start... Well it didnt work, the lights flashed but no start. So then i opened my truck door and started it the regular way. Well it started right up and i noticed that the check engine light came on. It then began to idle funny and almost died on me several times. i turned the car on and off 2 more times hoping that would fix it but no. So then on the drive home, when i presDsed the throttle it wouldnt go, then it would jump and sputter.. the engine was making ginding noises and rattling like a old beater. on every red light or stop the trucks idle would jump from about 600 rpms to 300 up and down and come close to dying. then my tranny wouldnt shift and hessitated like crazy. when it finally did shift to 2nd gear it shifted right down to first again, jumping gears. i called the dealer and he hooked me up with roadside assistance to get it towed. well its at the dealer now and im clueless as to whats wrong

do you live in a cold climate area?!!?...if you do you prolly have water in your gas tank and something is prolly alos wrong with the sending unit inside your gas tank might be ice on it... this happened to my brothers 2007 nbs...and his also didnt start with the remote start and i believe the check engine light came on also... i suggest taking it to the dealership

if thats not it might be faulty Mass air Flow sensor

Yeah Ok Newbie...Lets chat when you've actually helped someone on the forum.

My suggestion would have been get it to a dealership...but since its already there...I figured I would stop people from flooding his post with

"Get it to a dealership" responses.

You wanna hear could be's ...could be the TPS...that would cause an Idle issue...so so could the MAF...the MAP too...and the O2 Sensors...and a vacuum leak...and the crank sensor, cam sensor...or the actual ECM could have screwed up...the Fuel pressure reg. that could have gone south...along with a whole host of other sensors that I'm not gonna start listing, and yes like you said...it could be water in the fuel. Point is guessing is useless...you need codes to troubleshoot...else your taking shots in the dark and wasting time and money....

Yes it is at the dealer so there is not much he can do about what to do, BUT I think someone should be a little more pleasent instead of jumping down a guys throat that has been on since April of last year. I have seen ya do it on other threads.

I vote either lifter failure or rod failure...

Edit: I think I would qualify on the matter of being somewhat useful...

Suggestions at this point in time are not going to matter. You can't tell us what the check engine light code was. If we new that we might make a wild azz guess. The important thing is the dealer has it and will hook it up to diagnostic and find out what the problem is. In the mean time a bunch of guesses and a dollar will get you a cup of coffee.
