Recommended Posts

Im going to Blackbear do the tune on my 09 Silverado 5.3 next week. I want todo a CAI, but can't find anything online. Blackbear recommended doing the CAI before the tune. I searched the forum, but can't find any info. Any ideas.

I'm looking for one myself.I had a AEM on my 02 and liked it. I spoke with the people at over there and they said they have one in development since GM changed the position of the air flow meter.

I just did a search on the forum for "CAI" and there were multiple pages.

I am also interested in this one, and I don't see the harm in placing a new subject here, since no one is required to click on it.

If you caught this post before the edit, just ignore my original comments. they were probably uncalled for... My wife says they usually are

I too am missing the filter between my brain and my mouth :)

I've been searching the web on this. For some reason the Volant seems to appeal to me. There was a bunch of reviews on it some where, and a video of it being installed. but they are kinda pricey

Would you recommend a wet filter or a dry filter?

How does aftermarket compare to the optional factory high capacity air cleaner?

Thanks for your opinions.

I keep reading good and bad things about CAI on 09s. Is it worth it to just do a dropin K&N filter?

I already have the drop in. I'm looking to go to a full CA.

I found a guy who can get the volant power core for $420. Thats the total for taxes and shipping.

Still seems kinda high to me

I'm looking at the Vararam, which is a true Ram-air cold air intake. I also looked at the Banks Ram-air, which is not a ram-air, just a cold air intake for the gas engines. With the superscoop on the diesels, it becomes a ram-air.

I had a K&N in the past and didn't care for it.

Try looking up this one: AFE Filters 51-11752 - Pro Dry S; Cold Air Intake System; It gave me about 2 miles to the gallon, Add noticable power and sounds off when you put your foot in it. Its a dry filter, you don't need to change oit, just get the shop vac out, took about 1 hour to install.
