Okay... So I dont know what to do, I got a offer yesterday... But that would mean giving up everything I worked for here. I got offered free college and a brand new vehicle and a nice place to live... and btw that new vehicle is a haunday or whatever :banghead: thats the only bad part... I dont know what to do honestly.. I would lose all of my "life long buddies" and I would'nt know anyone. It's in Albany, NY. I sort of like my simple life right now BUT if I go I can finaly finish my Engineerings degree and Business degree. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO lol. It's driving me nuts and I only have a short time to say yes or no.

I wouldn't worry about "life long buddies" when it comes to education. You'll meet so many more people in school... It's not hard to make friends in college...

It's not like you are giving up everything FOREVER- it's a couple years- and a free ride- I would jump on an offer like that- before you get too tied down with mortgages and bills and responsibilities- Take care of your education, and there is a gift that you will take with you the rest of your life-

Albany isn't so bad- I've worked there for about 25 years-

Well, you'll either really really love Albany because it's so different, or really really hate it because it's so different... :banghead:

I've got a similar delema. My fiance just graduated with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and she can get a job anywhere, and I mean ANYWHERE. She wants to go to Hawaii or South Carolina for just a year. Problem is I have two businesses here that I own with my brother and leaving them would be hard. They are small enough that he would have to replace me and it's not like I could just come back in a year.... Believe me the decision is TOUGH!!! I guess you could always move back if things don't work out...

Yeah... If I decide to come back everything I have now will be gone.

If you can't leave to educate yourself and do it for free no less and come back to nothing that just goes to show that where your at right now has no future. If it's all going to be gone if you came back then how solid is it now. Your saying life long buddies, they will be gone......sounds to me like they would have already left if given your chance.

Sounds like your scared to go and looking for reasurance to say no when you know you should be saying yes. The thing about saying yes is that you can go experiance and try the way of life or you can say no and never know what could have been. Step out of your box and look around and take chance, you have nothing to loose and can always come home. Doing nothing will be mistake and you will never know what could have been, don't go the rest of life wondering what could have been. Live life, take a chance, have confidance in yourself, have confidance in your friends and family, have confidance in your small town. Get your education and use it to come back ando live there or as close as you can.

Again if everyhting you have now will be gone if you come back then it just can't be that good. If it material things your thinking of, take what you can and give the rest to friends or sell it. It's not like you can't replace a truck and if it cost a truck for chepo korean car for a few years then so be it, there are plenty of trucks to choose from later. If it's family and friends, family will be there and the friends that support you will be there when you come back.

Good luck

I moved to the opposite end of the country to be in the Navy man...and I left my buddies and everything back home...Just took my wife and kid and buggered off.

I have lots of friends now, I'm buying a house, I have money and a future...They paid for my technical diploma so I could fix the weapons systems. I have a guaranteed job for the next 17 years and I can retire with a good pension....(25 years in total...I have 8 done)

I have spoken to people at home....Nothing has changed...the people I knew are still there and jobless. You know you can always move back to Smalltown to retire...but get out and see the world man....you don't want to be an old man siting wondering how it would have been.

NO REGRETS.

I say GO. I live 1 1/2 hrs north of Albany. Albany is OK but just north of that are many small towns like you are use to. Really small towns usually don t have much of a job future either. After school you can thn decide were you want to go and will be in a better postion with more options because of the education. What you are thinking you ll be giving up may not even matter to you in a few years. I did tn see what your future options are where you are now but it sounds like a better deal in Albany. Not sure how old you are but you will mature greatly from the moving out of your comfort zone ..

Get the hell out there and take the offer. Take it from another small town Texas guy. Leave the Midland/ Odessa area behind and go make yourself some damn money. You can always come back to Texas. I wouldn't pass this up. Hyundai or not.

Think of it this way... If you don't go I'll bet it will haunt you the rest of your life, wondering what it would of been like!!!
