Got To Do More Work To The Truck

So I noticed the past couple days any bump I would hit something would rattle in the rear axle area so I was like ok. I got out, sure enough what I thought it was it was the rear u-bolts that go over my leaf springs, lifting block, and axle.

I got underneath to tighten them up ( it is not the first time they had to be tightened up before ) and the nuts them selfs didnt want to move. They were seized on to the bolt. So I got my 3/4" wrench and come to tighten them and did not budge. I'm like ok. I soaked the bolts and nuts in penetrating oil and let it sit.

After Letting them sit i crawled back under to tighten them and only a couple would budge. I come to tighten the last one up and that s.o.b snapped right off. By this time I was ready to throw the wrench at something. But luckily it only broke were the nut is and the thread under it. So only about two inches of the bolt. Now on the one side there is only 3 nuts on it and they are half ass tightened.

I went to town Spent $30 on a higher grade u-bolt and some fancier looking nuts to re-place all four of them. Trick is now getting the other ones off.

Would that cuase to dog trail? but i do have that bolt that goes through leaf springs.

if you cant get them lose, try using a diegrinder, or cut off wheel. just be carefull not to hit the axle. if your good you can use a sawzall with a metal cutting blade.

I got them off. i had to use a die grinder on everyone. The company that installed them before, looked like they used a cutting torch to cut down the bolt so every nut was unable to physically come off.
