1998 Gmc Cruise Control

In my 98 gmc I had a problem that has just popped up in the last week and a half. when i come to hit the cruise button on the highway it will engage but then right away a clicking sound happens under the dash board and the truck slows down and then i will turn the cruise off then a kinda of sorting buzzer sound will go off. Anyone know how i can fix my cruise control so i can use it again?

Gregrocks89, have you had any luck diagnosing your 98 gmc cruise control problem? I've got the same problem on my 98 Sierra. Cruise won't hold speed at around 70mph and when I turn it off, I hear a buzzing/fluttering sound inside the dash near the radio. At 50mph, it holds, but goes down to about 45mph, then cuts out completely on hills. Let me know if you've found anything. Thanks
