Truck Was Broken Into Last Night

My silverado was broken into last night, and they stole two work laptops that I had in my possession, along with an ipod touch and a dewalt drill. Broke the right rear glass and climbed in, didn't open any doors to avoid setting off the factory alarm. They hit 5 vehicles in my apt complex...this is very nerve racking and I'm sure I'll get an earful at work for leaving company property in my vehicle instead of bringing it inside the apartment. Now I'm missing over a 8 months worth of work notes that I keep handy for upcoming projects :/ ...Thankfully they didn't tear up anything inside the truck, I didn't lock the glove box or console storage box. Just gotta replace the glass and repair/paint the door where they scratched it up climbing inside.

Too bad duck season is over, I probably would have been walking outside at 3:00am right when they were hitting my truck, that 12 ga pump would have been loaded quick!

I haven't looked at auto alarm systems in a long time, can anyone recommend a good one? Possibly something that can alert the owner that the alarm has been activated?

Thanks,

Keith

I would recommend the Viper 5901, it's two way, and install is pretty easy with the right module. It will even control factory remote start if you have it and the range can be close to a mile. You can also add as many extra sensors as your want such as glass break, ultrasonic, etc. The key fob can be set to beep, vibrate, or both to alert you.

Oh man, that sucks. My boss had his laptop stolen out of his car just last week. Busted the back window out, and stole it.

Sorry about your luck, hopefully work won't be to pissed and insurance covers it.

Hope your work is understanding about the missing lap tops man. I hate thieves, that muslim chopping off of the hand is sounding more and more appealing everyday....

Sorry to here that man, it really sucks that you cant have something nice without someone putting their fingers on it. Good luck, let us know how you make out.

Sorry to hear man.

I hate a thief! Just another low life who is too lazy to work for something so he has to steal nice things from other people.

Bottom feeders!

Hopefully your insurance will cover it

OUCH! That really stinks, man. I am so sorry. Nothing makes you feel more a helpless victim than being robbed by spineless jerks. We have prob all been there at some time in our life. On a positive note, there is minimal damage to your truck and they didnt take that! I hope all works out well for you. I think I will be investing in an alarm myself.

Damn, that sucks.

A thief broke into my government car (2009 Pontiac G6) a few months back. Smashed the back window after prying on a door. He made off with my old Tomtom but was pulled over a couple of miles away. It's amazing how ignorant some people are.

Sorry for your loss. I used to leave my GPS and Radar detectors in my truck and cars overnight and in sight during the day, but now I don't. I either bring them inside, and if I don't bring them inside; I hide them out of view with all the wires all out of sight.

this is why I went to a Stock CD Player in my Plymouth, because who would want a crappy Factory CD player? and I don't have any Amps or subwoofers in my car, because 1. I can't afford to get them, and 2. they are like a flashing neon sign saying 'Steal me!' and any and all valuables get locked in the trunk, and I have a Lockable Folding Seat, and that stays locked ALL the time!
