Y-pipe Removal?

Hey guys I have 1999 1500 Silverado. I need to replace a Shift solenoid so I know i have to drop the Transmission pan. Problem is the Y-pipe is in the way. Anyone know anything about this cause I have never dropped a y-pipe before just to get the pan off of a vehicle. Thanks for all the help.

Dropped my pan last week and i didnt remove anything. It was tight but a little wiggling and it came down.

On my truck its close too but its just a little to tight to make it through without hitting anything. Any Ideas?

the way I remember is to undo the tranny mount and raise the powertrain off the crossmember and hold your tougue just right and wiggle it out

(DO NOT UNPLUG THE SOLINOIDS WHEN REINSTALLING THE PAN)

the dealer only charges 1 hr for a tranny svc so removing the y-pipe is not required ,just be carefull or take it in,its a PITA

I've done it a couple times and it's a bit tricky getting it out. No need to move the transmission. Just have to remove the transmission linkage mount which is more difficult because there are torx bolts on the topside of the flange of the transmission. Just be careful not to get too rough because there are plastic connectors that set low into the pan near the front of the transmission and you can catch them and break something or have a connector come loose. When putting the pan back on, keep that in mind as well. I did this on my 2000 S10 Blazer and it was the same deal, with the exhaust in the way. I also drilled a hole and put in my own drain plug. Good luck!

Ok thank you for your responses I am going to try them to see if I can get it out. I will let you know as soon as I can how this goes. Thanks!
