Stereo Quit

So on Thursday night, I jump in the truck after fire practice and notice the stereo has quit. No lights, nothing, just a black hole where it should have been (yes it is still there )

 

So is there anything I should be looking at before I start to dismantle the dash and such??

 

Is this a common thing??

 

Oh yea, 2005 Chev, 1500, CC, 4x4 w/ 70000 k on it.

Not to insult your intelligence, but you DID check all your fuse boxes, right?

No you are not questioning intellegence!!!

 

I checked all the fuses that have radio on them. I could only find two, one is a 15 amp for radio and the other is a 30 amp that says radio amp. Both were Ok as far as I could see.

So now to add to this, the stereo came back on for 30 sec, then shut off, but there was a thumping/twag noise coming from the front door speakers. It sound kind of like a lazer gun on the old Star war movies .

 

The only way to shut it off was too pull the fuse.

 

Any ideas??????
