Console Lid Repair

2006 GMC 2500 HD

I've done the forum search and just want to make sure I understand the fix correctly. The part number for my specific need would be 19127364, right?

I have found that part number on Ebay for $145.00 but it's only $87.80 through GMPArtsDirect.com. I assume that GMpartsdirect is a reputable source. Just found it odd that they would be so much higher on Ebay.

I believe I've found an installation walk through with pictures but I don't understand why removal of the console is necessary. Does it just make it easier? http://newseatcover.com/lidrepair.html

I have also made similar purchases with no issues....I have found many ebay stores to be higher than other reputable sites in many cases....not surprising.

I just bought Firestone rear air bags for my HD on Amazon for $189....cheapest on ebay was $240 or more...ugh

If you can repair the console in the truck, it would be easier, as the seats have to come out to remove the console...not hard, just a bunch of work....

I believe that you have to replace the entire unit. I know that when mine broke, I could not just order the top. Fortunately it was under warranty and the dealer took care of everything for me.

You better call and ask your local GM parts guy first and ask it that

is what you need before you order it online.

The description on a GM parts site don't seem right and I think its for a model

with a seperate center floor console lid hinge.

Why? Because I also had a broken hinge and broken push button on both

my 01 and 04 gmt-800s. Both were fixed under warranty with a complete

replacement unit.

And as we all know if GM had a $87 hinge only fix instead of a $400 whole

seat console fix which one would they do?

Is this it?

No, the one in your link is for the full length console. Mine is the jump seat console.

According to this I can just replace the lid:

DO THIS

DON'T DO THIS

Replace just the lid for the armrest.

Do NOT replace the armrest assembly.

Condition

Some customers may comment that the lid for the armrest is broken.

Correction

Replace the armrest lid using the procedure below.

Open the armrest lid.

Remove the armrest inner panel. Use a flat-bladed screwdriver and place it between the two panels and pull to separate.

Fold the seat backs to gain access to the hinge pin. Using a punch, push the hinge pin out.

Install the two springs into the new armrest lid.

Align the two springs and the lid to the armrest and install the pin.

Install the inner lid to the armrest and close the lid.

Place the seat back in the upright position.

GO.................Like I posted I didn't think that part and description didn't seem quite right

and the illustrations look like the floor console.

But from that GM bulletin you posted I guess NOW that you can get just the lid.

My last replacement lid was done in 04 as I see the bulletin date in 06!

Ya need to fold back the seats to have room to drive out the pin that holds the

lid on.

Good to know!
