There was a time when I wanted an H2 really bad but the allure has worn off for me. I still like them but their day has come and gone.

I would say that I'm sorry to see them go, but I'm not really. The HMMWV is a great (but slightly dated) vehicle for military applications; I would love to have one myself, and the H1 would suffice in a pinch. That said, the H1 took a bare bones military/off-road vehicle and turned it into an impractical road warrior for the wealthy. The H2 was an attempt to condense the basic look into a smaller package and those big boxy things always piss me off on the road as they are hard to see around or through, even in my truck. The H3, well, that's all I can say. We have a couple of H3s as battalion "assets" for recruiting purposes, I think we have some H2s as well at a higher headquarters level. The H3 is cramped, the build quality doesn't please me, and the $1000 repair bill I found in one for a no-start problem didn't increase my love. The tech threw an ignition switch and battery at it and the warranty covered neither (probably due to the ghetto blaster system the Army installed in it to appeal to kids).

 

We did have a M1025 that I loved to drive (I think I was the only one, everyone else would rather have the a/c and stereo the H3 provides) but had to turn that in. Keep in mind that my opinions are just that; I am sure the Hummer line had some great vehicles and more than its share of fans. They just weren't for me (unless I ever find an H1 I can afford).
