Cold Weather Questions

I live in northern Alberta and have a few questions about cold weather starting. Is it worth it to have heated washer fluid and a battery warmer? As well how long should a block heater be plugged in for?

i live 5 hours north of you, ive never used a battery warmer. ive never used heated washer fluid so i cant comment on that but i heard its nice, as for plugging your truck in. if its colder than -25C keep in plugged in all the time if you can, or buy a timer at crappy tire and time it to come on 3 hours before you need to use your truck. if its warmer than -25C i dont even plug mine in, im sure its wise too but i dont. i use full synthetic oil tho too which helps alot on the cold starts. but when its like super cold like it gets up here, like -45C or colder its wise to plug it in whenever your not using it. and start it up once every couple days let it idle for awhile...i leave my truck for two weeks at a time. when it gets cold i leave it plugged in the whole time, and start it now and then just let it run for awhile. keeps your battery good.
