Rear Wheel Locks Up When Turning Slow

The other day i was backin outta the drive way cut the wheel sharply to the left and passenger rear tire wanted to lock up and i heard kinda of popping noise...PLEASE HELP!!! its on a 05 seirra 1500... and also i think my rear u joints goin out. Sometimes when i put the truck in gear i hear a CLUNK! and also when i coast for a little while then get back on the gas it clunks too... when the trucks in park i can twist on the drive shaft...ANY help is appreciated

U joints and grease the slip yoke. how many miles?

U joints and grease the slip yoke. how many miles?

And don't just buy the cheapest U joints. Lifted trucks will usually shred the cheap ones pretty quickly. How sure are you that the popping noise isn't the tires rubbing? Most people notice it going downhill in reverse with the wheels cut to one direction.

Very well could be U-joints then. Another thing to consider for your lifted truck is a set of traction bars or ladder bars. They'll help reduce or eliminate axle wrap and take a lot of stress off of your U-joints.

 

Have you changed your rear end fluid recently? I'd recommend a fluid change, and take note of how much fluid comes out. If not a lot comes out, you've got a leaky axle seal on either side.
