Exhaust Help?

Eventually i want to get a decent exhaust on my silverado, but this is my first truck, and I know nothing about exhaust systems. My silverado is a v8 4.8L - what exhaust should I be looking at? Do the kits comes with everything you need or is it jsut the muffler and the tips and when I take it to get installed i would need to get the actual pipes?

you need to start by listening to other exhausts and decide what sound you are looking for, along with what exit style you prefer.

 

the "cat-back" kits include everything you will need to complete the system and can be installed in a driveway with basic tools

I have a Flowmaster super 40 in the stock location using the stock pipes. It sounds pretty good, too.

 

 

P.S. My truck is a 4.8L V8 too. It sounds beastly now.

I just found this video and I really think I'm going with Corsa. I too have an 09 4.8 and have been trying to decide which exhaust I want to go with.

I don't know if you got my pm, but yeah, I cut the old muffler off using a sawzall, then welded the new one on with a piece of extra pipe I got at pep boys (since the flowmaster was smaller than the huge stock muffler). It actually sounds a lot better than I thought it would. It does this cool echo when I drive under an overpass or bridge or something.

I have been researching exhaust systems, for a few months now, to go on my '07 5.3L Silverado. I have decided on the Corsa Sport system for a few primary reasons...

 

 

• Corsa has a patented anti-drone design called Reflective Sound Cancellation Technology. In a previous truck, I had the Magnaflow exhaust. It sounded great outside, but the drone at low RPM inside was absolutely unbearable! If you do some searching here, you will find that a lot of the lower cost systems have varying levels of drone inside the cab of the truck. I'll pay the extra to have a "drone-free" drive!!
  
• I had a Corsa system on a C5 Corvette. The quality and fitment was EXCELLENT!
  
• The only negative feedback I have ever read about the Corsa systems is that they are expensive. But with most things in life, and it is very true with exhaust systems.....You Get What You Pay For!!
