Rusted Fuel Filter Removal

How on earth am I going to replace my fuel filter when it is rusted on? I have sprayed liquid wrench on it for two straight weeks and still can't break it loose. Truck runs sluggish after I replaced the pump/sending unit. Quite sure the filter is clogged up pretty good. Any ideas?

Wire brush around the fittings as best you can then spray it with PB Blaster or Kroil if you can get it. Make sure you are using two wrenches and just keep working at it.

I've also had really good luck with Marvel Mystery Oil. Put on and let it sit for a little bit.

Always have used two tubing wrenches. I even gave it a good pop with a center punch to try and break it loose. Nothing. If I have to cut the line, will I be forced to replace both hard lines on each side?

First thing I would try is PB Blaster. If that does not work then I would try (don't laugh) battery terminal cleaner. The one I used is made by CRC. I have used this at the parts store I work at to remove the rustiest hold down clamps on batteries. I spray that on, let it set for a few minutes, wire brush, and repeat. I've done this 4 or 5 times already. It just eats the corrosion away.

 

Now I can't say whether or not it is safe around gas, but just clean it off after it breaks loose.

I have the same problem.

 

I've sprayed it with PB-Blaster 3 days in a row now and no movement. I really don't want to force it because I broke one of my rear brake lines this way (don't worry, only went from the T on the diff to one side; easy fix).

 

I guess I'll give the Marvel Mystery Oil a try too.

 

Can anyone confirm/deny that battery terminal cleaner is safe on/around fuel lines?

I don't know if its safe, but could you use a heat gun (approx 450 degrees) on the threads to get the oils to soak in better?

Not for long periods of time, but enough to help.

 

Gas ignites at 495.
