Hi, I am looking to upgrading my chevy 1500 silverado from a 4.8 to a 6.0. I have a 2002 chevy silverado 1500. I'd like my new motor to bolt up fairly easy to the tranny as I will replace the tranny later. What motor will bolt up easiest to my year an LS1 or LS2? Thanks

ls1 would be my guess, but i think bolt would bolt up pretty easy, thats a large leap why not just go to a 5.3?

Look for an LQ4 (6.0) out of a Denali or HD, or an LQ9 (6.0) out of an Esky/SS/Vortec Max. Any Gen III engine will be a straightforward swap. The LS2 is a Gen IV, so it will be a lot more work.

Do some searching over on performancetrucks.net, there have been tons of guys to do this swap (I'm in the middle of it myself).

Yup...pretty straight forward swap as long as you stay in the LS1 years, but all LS engines have the same bolt pattern for the bell housing.

Your 4L60E will last about a week behind an LQ4/LQ9 though...you absolutely need to upgrade it, or swap in a 4L80E. A shift kit, corvette servos and tuning should be enough to hold it together behind a 6.0L, but if you want to tow, you almost need the 80E, or a full upgrade kit for your 60E.
