Broken Bolts

I was talking to someone the other day and we started to talk about truck lifts. He was saying that he had a body lift on one of his trucks and the he said that BLs were crap because the longer body mount bolts would break on his truck. He said this occured more than once. Has anyone every heard of this? Could it be he did not properly tourque the bolts during install? The reason im asking is I am about a week away from getting a BL and would like to know if this is a common problem. Thanks in advance.

I really see no reason for the bolts to break unless they are cheap bolts or driving crazy and the body does a lot of twisting or something. Just buy a good kit!

Correct. Make sure the bolts are the correct grade.

I am willing to bet the cheap BL kits come with less quality hardware. If your worried get some good grade 8 hardened bolts and sleep well at night!

Or if metric, the equivalent grade would be 10.9. These bolts have 150ksi ultimate tensile strength.

I agree with yall. The guy that was tellin me this didnt seem like the brightest guy so idk. He was saying the body will twist and break the bolts. I guess he just had some crappy weak bolts.

I just got my Zone BL 1.5" and it came with a shiny new set of grade 10.9 Bolts. These things are heavy and seem really strong.

I thought that metric had a class of 12.9 that was tougher than 10.9....

The kit im looking to get says it has zinc plated Grade 5 hardware. You guys think that would be a problem?

No problem. They are strong enough. (120 ksi ultimate tensile strength). Metric equivalent is grade 8.8.
