First Scratch Repair Help

Recommended Posts

Noticed the first scratch on the truck and wondering if there is something I can do to get rid of it or if I have to take it somewhere to get it buffed. It is a veritcal scratch on the bed - when I run my finger over it I can feel the scratch but it does not appear to be too bad. Any ideas?

It's on the outside - paint is scratched. It looks like the guys that put the cover on probably lifted it up the side of the truck and scratched it - everything lines up that way but how do I prove it? I know there will be scratches but I didn't want any on my truck!

Take it there and have them look at it. They might be willing to have it taken care of. Worth a shot!

I thought about it. I just thought there might be an easy way for me to look after it myself

If its a scratch in the clear coat, 2000 grit wet sandpaper and buffing compound will take that right out.

Can you feel it with your fingernail?

Sometimes those can be too deep.....

However, I've had good luck using Meguiar's M105/M205 by hand to rid my Yukon of scratches. ScratchX is a good product for minor scratches. Their consumer line of Ultimate Compound/SwirlX is a good combo too.....

What do you have for tools? DA? Rotary? or by hand?
