Volant Cool Air Intake On 2009 Silverado 5.3 Issues

I installed a Volant CAI on my 2009 Silverado w/ 5.3 engine. It worked fine for a few weeks. Today I was driving back from lunch, and the truck was surging and stalling at low speeds. I pulled into our warehouse at work, and prepared to replace the tuned ECM with the stock one to see if that would fix it. When I popped the hood, I checked the intake, just to make sure the tube hadn't pulled off the throttle body. When I grabbed it, I noticed it moved at the AirBox. The tube had pulled out of it. When I tried re-installing, I noticed that the tube only went about 1/4 inch into the rubber connector. I had to pull the filter out, and remove the airbox. I slotted the bolt holes in the plastic box, and slid the box 1/2 inch closer to the tube. This has fixed the condition it seems.

You would expect a 300+ intake system to fit a lot better. Hopefully this will help someone who is installing one of these (or already has) to avoid having it pull loose.

I know how mine was pulled loose I think. I backed into a fairly steep uphill parking space and placed the transmission in Park, and then let off the brake before setting the parking brake. I think this allowed the transmission to pivot the engine enough to put a strain on the connection and pull it loose. I noticed the problem as soon as I started the truck to leave from lunch.

Ya i just installed mine on my 09. That rubber peice was a pain in the ass and the clamps could of been bigger for the price of the system but so far i am happy with it.
