2500hd Modifications Help

I am new to this forum and it has been great for ideas. 2008 2500hd with 285/70/17 BFG AT's on H2 rims. Flowmaster 50 series SUV, Bushwacker OEM style flares, 2" Tuff Country Keys for leveling. I need suggestions, I am undecided on what I want to do. I am considering removing the factory side steps and replacing them with the individual steps , 4 of them (picture at bottom of page). I am also considering Westin style chrome round side steps with matching rail bars. I have considered painting my flares Summit white to match the truck and replacing the door handles and mirror caps with white also. I am going back and forth on the black and white look or a more uni-color type look. I would appreciate your input, and also critique on what I have done so far. Thanks.

I would color match the fenders, handles and mirrors. I would also paint the grill to match. I would not install the step you are looking at as it will look odd with the extra cab. The steps will be too close. Westin round full length bars as you mentioned would look much better. I would also debadge. Good luck

Thanks for the input. I looked at my truck and I think you are right about tthe steps being too close to each other. I have been considering painting my flares, and I think all white handles and miroors with would look sharp.

yeah the black flares just seem out of place on the white truck, like theres voids in the paint...ditch those full plank steps, unless your 75 years old they look dumb...i'd get tubular steps or the inidiviual steps like you showed above

1.) Paint the Flares

2.) Painted Doorhandles

3.) Upgraded mirrors, Towing or painted

Very soon I will be adding:

GM Towing mirrors

6: Oval Steps

Line-X bedliner

Black flares make your wheels look smaller then normal. I would like to see the black flares on it with bigger tires, to see what that combo would look like first before painting them. I think the black flares have potential to look good, cause it's not a look that everyone out there has. If you could put some SS bolts in the flares, they would enhance the look.

If you like those steps but are worried about them looking goofy, look into some N-Fab or GoRhino Dominator (I think) step bars. Both companies make a similar product.

I have taken off the flares and I like the look better. I found some painted handles I am still tying to get. The more I think about tow mirrors, I think they will look better black. The Kool-vue mirrors look pretty awesome. I love the Nfab, but a little pricey for me right now. I think black side steps would compliment the whole look.

Personally, Id also paint the flares & swap to tow mirrors. Looks like you don't have a bed liner/lining either. Get right on that! Also, how about a billet grill? Here's some tow mirrors I recently installed...
