Cutting Resonator On 5.3l Exhaust?

has anyone here cut their exhaust at the resonator on the 5.3L (nnbs). i know matt_ did it on his denali, and lsu dark knight on his 4.8. im just curious if anyone knows how it will sound, especially with the AFM. i WAS in the market for a full exhaust, but its time to save up some money for now....

thanks

I just had my exaust done today with a Cherry Bomb Muffler, and Im really suprised at how ok it sounds in 4Cycl Mode. To me it has a different tone, but it doesn't sound like a 4 Cyclinder at all. The only thing I don't like is how the tone changes when it switches in and out, but that will be fixed in about a month after it gets a BLACKBEAR TUNE!

congrats on the exhaust man! u should post up a sound clip when u can. i would love a real aftermarket exhaust, but the moneys not here for that right now, probably after the lift and new tires this summer.

i looked under the truck and all i saw was the exhaust piping after the muffler. anyone know where i should cut it at? i was thinking about cutting it right as it bends down, that way the exhaust gasses still exit down to the ground. gonna borrow a sawsall (spelling) from work this weekend, well see how it goes!

How did this go? Did you do it? I think I'm going to truck mine off too.

they are either pre cats or resonators and my 2009 has them immediately after the manifold and right before the cat converters on each side.

that cut you made is in a tough spot because the leaf springs are in the way the entire time. I cut the muffler off just before the inlet pipe and left enough after the hanger in front of the inlet pipe to slide a 3" custom bent pipe out the side in front of the shackle between the shackle and the slanted part of the frame, i posted pics....

I think you'd have to extend that back to stock location cut the way it is.
