Hello, I am new to the forum and just picked up an 06 Sierra Crew a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to know, is there anything that I should look out for, or any recalls on these trucks? Thanks in advance

intermediate steering shaft clunk is a pretty well known thing that needs attention

I had to replace my cyclinder heads due to a bad supplier, but these are rare occurances

your transmission might clunk going from 2nd to 3rd, mine has done this since I bought it in 07. no dealer will admit/recognize the problem. It hasn't caused any failures and I'm at 93,000 miles.

other than that, these trucks are built pretty well

congrats on the purchase! ANS WELCOME!!! :P

I just got an '06 Silvy Crew Cab 4x4 2LT with the 5.3. No issues so far, some clunks here and there but nothing out of the ordinary for a Chevy full size.

I luckily don't have the intermediate shaft clunk (hopefully it was fixed by the previous owner) but I know of 3 malibu's that have needed it (wife's 05 LS, Mom now Wifes 05 Maxx, Father in laws 07 Classic). My Dad's 04 Silverado Crew Cab 2WD had a HORRID clunk in it.

It's like $220 to fix it on the malibu's don't know about silverado's. I have a certified used warranty though so at this point I don't care but I'm definitely looking out for it.

Front Pump Seal or Rear Main Seal may go out. I had my front pump seal replaced. I also had the power steering pump replaced for no pressure at idle. I also had an oil pan leak. Apparently a bolt hole on the oil pan was missing. Other than that it's been OK.
